Vince Gilligan Shares He Knows How The Apple TV+ Show Will Conclude... For Now.

Vince Gilligan could not have predicted that his new science-fiction series would emerge as a breakout success. “I am so grateful to the audience,” he remarks. “I was surprised by the show being as widely discussed as it is, and it makes me overjoyed.”

With the first season of the popular program reaching its finale—and Season 2 officially in the works—Gilligan and his team opened up about the audience reaction and whether it will shape the future direction of Pluribus.

About the Incredible Audience Reaction

Anyone might to get swayed by the constant speculation and online debates about Pluribus. The creator is striving to ignore the noise.

“It feels like constantly eating hot fudge sundaes and being tickled to death,” he describes. “It's wonderful, but I learn of it from others, and that's on purpose. Not once have I Googled myself, nor do I ever want to. Not because I don't care. It's a bottomless pit I know I would fall into and then I'd be living in squalor from Home Depot and I'd never leave my living room.”

Regardless of trying to stay away, there’s no way to avoid the extremely enthusiastic response to the series. The only approach for the writers is to acknowledge it humbly and try not to let it influence the direction of the show.

“We make no attempt to tailor anything,” says Alison Tatlock. “The plot we develop is not changed by what people are saying.”

“Better to keep our noses to the grindstone,” Gilligan adds.

The Central Mystery: Does the showrunner Have a Plan for the Conclusion of Pluribus?

Given that the creative staff are not listening by audience theories, does that mean they have mapped out how Pluribus will ultimately end? Essentially yes… in a way.

“We have some compelling concepts about the ultimate destination,” he states. “but we are always ready to abandon a solid concept for a better idea. That has held us in well on Better Call Saul and on Breaking Bad even before that. We change course when we conceive of something superior and I suspect we'll be doing that.”

Then again, if plans fall through, director and writer Gordon Smith has a humorous idea to serve as a last resort.

“I constantly suggest that the entire story is inside a snow globe, and that we'll reveal the snow globe and that's where they've been all along,” Smith quips, “but nobody's taking me up on that.”

Then again, one could always use the legendary finales?

“My dream is Carol to open her eyes next to Bob Newhart,” he jokes.

Pluribus can be watched on the streaming service.
