Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Tragic Car Crash

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos confirmed on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his valued colleagues.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The boxer had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home.

“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.

Remembering the Victims

The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the loss of his two trusted companions.”

His release from the hospital follows the global fight fans offered sympathy for the champion in the wake of the devastating accident.
