The co-creator of Call of Duty, who helped create the wildly popular franchise Call of Duty, has tragically died in a car accident in the state of California at the age of 55.

His passing was verified by Electronic Arts, the publisher that controls Respawn Entertainment, the development studio he co-founded.

The celebrated game designer passed away following his automobile collided and was engulfed in flames on a motorway in LA on Sunday morning, US media outlets report.

"This is a devastating loss, and we stand with Vince's loved ones, those closest to him, and all those touched by his legacy," an official with Electronic Arts stated.
