Homages Pour In for Rob and Michele Reiner as Medical Examiner's Findings Are Sealed.
More than two weeks after the tragic deaths of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones continue to honor the couple.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, explained he finally felt ready to post publicly about his deep grief.
"Enough time has gone by that I can finally articulate my loss into words," posted Elwes, noting that his initial encounter with Reiner left him smitten. "When we commenced passing more hours together I knew this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor shared archival material from the movie, remarking that he cannot recall "a single day without joy".
"The film is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Things that Rob cherished deeply. This is one of the many reasons he was the best person to helm it," Elwes expressed.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, stating: "To say that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I remember you." He ended with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Fellow Artist
In a separate tribute, legendary director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved being with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was very funny and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the lead role.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked wonderfully with the cast, and he understood the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese noted.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Restricted
Recently, a Los Angeles judge agreed to block the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, after an appeal from the local authorities.
A legal directive put a embargo on the investigation to limit the public release of "related notes, notes, reports or photos" pertaining to the probe.
The relevant authority had previously confirmed their deaths were the consequence of foul play, with a public database noting the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Aftermath and Reactions
After the deaths, public individuals shared varying comments.
Ex-President Donald Trump commented on the matter, making divisive statements that were met with immediate backlash by numerous commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his perspective to the critics last week. Speaking on his show, Rogan labeled the comments as "shocking" and implied they showed a concerning absence of compassion.
Rogan ended by remarking that an aide ought to have stepped in when the choice to comment on the tragedy was made.
