FC Barcelona to Host Inaugural Fixture at Partially Completed Camp Nou this Saturday
The club confirmed they are set to host at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou over the weekend. The club will host Athletic Bilbao in La Liga over two years after they moved out so building work could begin.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity with 45,401 fans can be present based on approved permits. When completed, the Camp Nou is due to hold almost 105,000 spectators, increasing from the former 99,000. Officials confirmed finished work included a new players’ tunnel along with upgraded changing facilities.
Stadium Testing
The club conducted a public practice on the home pitch in early November. The club said they were hoping for permission from Uefa to play their next home Champions League game facing Eintracht in December at the stadium. Their recent games have been held in the temporary ground.
