Dive Into this Revamped Classic Journey: A Complimentary Trial for Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined Debuts Soon.

Enthusiasts eagerly awaiting the release of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined can get a head start too much longer. An free-to-play demo version is set to become available on the seventh of January, granting a generous look into the game's initial chapters. Notably, all advancement made within this demo will be able to be imported directly into the full game upon its subsequent release.

Beyond Just a Straightforward Re-release: The Complete Reimagining

This title represents a from-scratch reimagining of the landmark year 2000 RPG, originally released as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. Taking a notable step away from recent series remakes, like the recently released HD-2D iterations, this reimagining embraces a charming three-dimensional visual presentation. Environments are designed to look like detailed dioramas, with characters having a whimsical toy-like appearance.

"Even with the 3DS remake, the narrative was remained quite extended. Therefore, we reached a determination that we wanted to streamline the story, [and] make this adventure for today's audiences."

Key Mechanical Changes & Updates

The development team have introduced several changes to refresh the classic experience. These include:

  • Expedited Overworld Battles: Similar to modern RPGs, low-level foes can now be dispatched directly on the field eliminating the need for entering a full turn-based combat screen.
  • Adjustable Battle Speed: Gamers can accelerate combat animations to rapidly get past easier fights.
  • New Job Mechanics: One completely new vocation was created for this reimagining. Additionally, characters gain the ability to take on a secondary job, greatly expanding strategic depth.

These alterations seek to address a key the original title's most noted criticisms: its considerable length. The initial adventure could easily require more than 100 hours to complete. This new edition has been specifically structured to improve progression and cut down on perceived bloat.
