Clair Obscur Triumphs at the 2025 Golden Joystick Awards
The 43rd yearly Golden Joystick Awards unfolded this past week, and in a stunning show, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 claimed the title of the most decorated winner. The breakout role-playing game from Sandfall Interactive earned the esteemed Game of the Year award, along with prizes for Best Storytelling and Best Visual Design.
Complementing the developer's achievements, the talented performers also received individual awards. Jennifer English won Top Lead Actor for her performance as Maelle, while Ben Starr took home Best Supporting Actor for his work as Verso. Additionally, Sandfall Interactive itself was honored as Studio of the Year. In total, Clair Obscur and its developers won seven awards throughout the show.
Additional standout winners included Ghost of Yōtei, which won Top Sound Design and Best Console Game, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, receiving Top Self-Published Indie and PC Game of the Year. Notably, the majority of Golden Joystick Awards are chosen by the public, with only four special—Critics Choice, Breakthrough Award, Hall of Fame, and Streamer Selection—decided by experts.
