Champions League Action This Evening: Manchester City v Bayer Leverkusen & More

Group Rankings
We're at the midway point of the league phase, so the table is starting to take shape. All six British teams are currently in the top 12, but there are only 2 pts between fifth and 16th position, thus there's a hint of volatility about the whole thing. It’s all up for grabs.

Historical Context
The only previous meeting between Newcastle and Marseille was the Europa League semifinal of 2004, won by an emerging star from Ivory Coast. Bayer Leverkusen and Manchester City have not faced each other previously. Chelsea and Barcelona have some past encounters.
Initial Game Reports
Only a single goal during the opening period of the early fixtures. Dahl's 6th-minute strike has given Jose Mourinho’s Benfica a one-nil lead at the Dutch side.
Newcastle’s Trip to Marseille
Even though Newcastle arrived in the south of France fresh from their confidence-boosting 2-1 home English top-flight win over City on Saturday, and having beaten Union SG, the Portuguese side and Athletic Bilbao in the European Cup, their only away win since early April came in the Belgian capital at Union SG.
It's not that Eddie Howe was overly keen to talk about the psychological aspect of this away form issue. “The European Cup is distinct from Premier League games,” said the coach, whose side are sixth in the Champions League standings, with 9 points from a possible twelve and automatic qualification to the last 16 almost within touching distance. “I am not sure if you can compare them.”
A dedicated live feed is available for Barcelona vs Chelsea. Murray, the minute-by-minute version of Maradona is on duty for that.
